Acer offers a number of laptops with different performances and parameters. We have already reviewed interesting solutions in relatively affordable price segments. These were different combinations of characteristics in Nitro 16, Predator Helios 16 and more compact predator Helios Neo 14. Today we will talk about the extended version of the latter. Predator Helios NE 16 received a 16-inch screen and a medium-tall high-performance component. 
Although RTX 50 series graphics cards are not available on laptops in the Ukrainian market, there are interesting and balanced solutions for the previous generation components.
Design and ergonomics
From the outside, the Acer Predator Helios NE 16 is obviously at a combination of toy and productive work models. The outer surfaces of the housing are colored matte black. The cover is diluted with the Acer Gaming Division Logotype of several graphic elements in the form of a set of symbols. On the shelf of the lower part, below the lid, there is a pattern.
Due to its larger dimensions, the device has placed a numerical keyboard. But the touch remained the same in the area as a more compact model. All the keys, as well as in the younger model, are favorably located. Shift, Enter and Backkspace have an optimal length and can virtually not complain. Except for our usual. The power button is installed in the keyboard area.
It is located next to the marked key to start municipal services and multimedia control keys. Yes, it is somehow isolated from more commonly used areas, but not too much. The cooling mode button is designed separately. The air suction grid is installed above the keyboard field almost throughout the entire width of the case. Two speakers are located at the bottom of the laptop.
Unlike a more compact version, you can hit a fairly powerful discreet video card according to a large number of ventilation holes at the bottom. There are also two grids on the sides.
The rear edge also has ventilation grids with symmetrical diffusers. They are not removable as in some other models with similar elements. For example, Predator Helios 16 had them. In this version, the ports are placed between them. In the 14-inch version, all were scattered along the side edges.
On the back we have a power connection, HDMI, two USB Type-C. On the left are Ethernet, USB Type, MicrosD card reader and audio connection. On the right there are two more USB Type and Kensington Lock. It seems to be more logical to replace the network connection and symmetrical USB-C.
The web camera and microphones are located above the screen. There is no infrared sensor, so Windows Hello is not supported.
Equipment and performance
The model display has a real 16 -inch diagonal. IPS matrix 1920 × 1200 is installed. A great solution for high -speed games without the need for manually reduction of the resolution in the games. Figure 16:10 ratio means that it can be more appropriate to work in various programs where there are toolbars. Supported refreshment speed is 165 Hz. The maximum brightness level is 400 threads. This is enough to work in a well -lit room or in the shade outside, but there can be shades in the sun. Although the screen has a matte finish, which does not flash too much. SRGB Gamut color is 100%.
Intel Core I7-14650HX installed processor is based on a new Lake Raptor architecture for high-performance lakes and workstations. Chip was introduced in early 2024. It offers 8 performances (P-Core) with hyperthreading and 8 efficiency efficiency (e-Core) without hypertriaing. Thus, a total of 20 threads were supported. The P-cherry hour frequency is from 2.2 to 5.2 GHz (one core) or 4.5 GHz (all core), and e-core from 1.6 to 3.7 GHz. Compared to the previous architecture of Lake Alder Lake, the new Lake Raptor improved P-Core (Raptor Cove Architecture with multiple cache), more E-CERE (same architecture of Gracemont) and a higher tact frequency thanks to the Intel 7 Process. Therefore, in comparison with our predecessors, we will continue to get slightly larger performance. Also, the solution is more competitive in current reality after publishing the new Intel Core Ultra 7 and 9, especially.
Files and system are stored on SSD with PCIE 4.0 NVME in M.2 format. The storage capacity is 1 tb. Among wireless communications are Wi-Fi killer Standard 6e or 802.11Ax, as well as Bluetooth 5.3. The lithium-ion battery consists of four cells and has an increased capacity of 90 W h. It allows a laptop to work without a socket for almost 7 hours, which can be called a good result for this class.
Acer laptops have an Acer Care Center’s ownership application to review the device characteristics, check, optimize, update. In PrekatSensu you can adjust the way to switch mode, the laptop mode, the cooling system, the backlight, as well as to oversee the system, etc.
Impressions
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 is a powerful and somewhat balanced representative for a laptop toy. Although his power is actually more than enough for most modern games in full HD resolution and programs for creating content such as blender. The possibilities of its components and prices speak for the benefit of it. The solutions used on the inside remain competitive with the release of new processors and video card models, and most importantly, it will save some money.
The laptop has a good optimized software for hardware and aesthetic moments settings like a keyboard and backlight. Although the laptop has been shown to be relatively compact for such diagonal, it remains difficult because of the rather spacious battery and the thick arrangement of powerful components. If you want to make the most of the frequencies of overclocking, prepare for noisy refrigerators. As for the appearance, it is also quite laconic. The model does not look like a victim of a designer who is perverted in strobon lights and LED strips. You will not have to prove that you have taken a bright blinking laptop for work and homework. Large screen, a convenient connector look, a powerful processor and average, but still good at video card performance – what else is needed for a successful model?
